We connect people with their communities.
At PSRS, we view our clients as individuals with unique needs and unique opportunities to contribute to the community. Our objective is to empower participants to experience a high quality of life by increasing that individual’s ability to accomplish activities of daily living and fostering active participation and inclusion in the community. This goal is achieved with a personalized approach, one that requires listening, time and training.
In 1983, PSRS began by providing intensive tenant support services to four deaf-blind developmentally disabled adults in the Renton Highlands. In 1985, PSRS incorporated as a 501c3. We now have more than 170 staff members who partner with 55 clients in locations ranging from Federal Way and Renton to Covington and Queen Anne. PSRS is currently the largest supported living provider in the state that tailors its services to meet the needs of deaf and deaf-blind developmentally disabled individuals. But don’t let our size fool you—our committed, well-trained and professional staff members work diligently to identify and meet each individual’s needs.
Our investment in people also extends to the way we view our staff. PSRS has a philosophy to first look to recruit its administrative staff from those already within the agency who have experience working directly with our clients. This experience and insight helps to guide the future of PSRS, while maintaining a strong understanding of what services and support our clients actually need.
We believe that this approach—like all that we strive to do—is best for our clients, for their families, for our staff and for our communities.
